Border Union Show
Held on the last Friday and Saturday of July at Springwood Park, on the outskirts of the historic market town of Kelso, this event is the highlight of the rural event calendar for the Scottish Borders and Northumberland, and has over 500 open competitions for horses, livestock and industrial arts. There will also be over 200 trade stands and a Food Fair showcasing producers from Scotland and further afield, as well as live cookery demonstrations.

Outdoor Cinema at Alnwick Castle
Offering a cinematic experience like no other, Alnwick Castle in Northumberland is hosting Adventure Cinema for five days of movies in the open air. One evening has already sold out and tickets are moving fast for the four remaining screenings that include Dirty Dancing and a sing-along to Wicked.

Floors Castle
Floors Castle is hosting a diverse schedule of events over the summer season, including a Walled Garden Tour on Wednesday 29th July where visitors can explore the historic Walled Garden before it opens to the public. If you’re looking for something a little different, how about Silent Disco Yoga on Sunday 26th? Whether you’re experienced in yoga or trying it for the first time, this playful practice invites you to breathe, move, and dance into stillness.

Art at Etal
This pop-up fair is held on the second Wednesday every month, from April to October, at Etal Village Hall at Ford and Etal in Northumberland. The fair showcases the work of local artists and makers with a focus on original art, printmaking, collage, illustration and sketching, along with traditional artisan makers working in glass, ceramics and textiles. Some artists also stage free demonstrations during the day.

Scottish Game Fair
Held in the grounds of Scone Palace, this three-day fair is packed with events, from cookery and fishing demonstrations to off-road driving and terrier racing. There’s something for all the family here, along with a wide range of exhibitors, the Food Village, and Crafted in Scotland, a new market for 2026 that brings together a diverse selection of talented artisans, producers, and creatives from across the country.

Auld Brodie
Celebrate Brodie Castle through the years with this family-friendly living history event. Re-enactment group Medieval Realm will be running living history displays spread over authentically-styled tents, with demonstrations held throughout the day. Moray Archery Club and Elgin Duellist Fencing Club will also be in attendance with demonstrations and hands-on experience for visitors.

Forres Highland Games
Held in Grant Park in Forres, expect a spectacular show of Scottish tradition, sport and culture including Highland dancing, track and field, heavy events, tug o’ war and solo piping. There’s also the Message Bike Race – unique to the Forres Games – where spectators can turn participant and race the field on an old traditional message bike in the hope of lifting a winner’s trophy.
