In Conversation with Chloe Henderson

In the second instalment in our new series of interviews with members of our team, we chat with Sales Negotiator Chloe Henderson about work, favourite places, favourite businesses, and favourite books.

Firstly, can you tell us a bit about yourself and what you do?

I’m a Sales Negotiator with Paton & Co. I began my property career in Edinburgh before moving south to cover the Scottish Borders and North Northumberland. My role is wonderfully varied and includes sales negotiations, valuations, viewings, and guiding both buyers and sellers through every step of their property journey. I love being involved from the very first conversation right through to completion.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

The people, without a doubt. No two days are ever the same and I really enjoy meeting and working with new people every day. Helping clients sell their home so they can move on to their next chapter is incredibly rewarding, as is helping buyers find their perfect home and watching the excitement build as they start planning the next stage of their lives.

What’s your favourite place to escape to or explore?

My favourite place to escape is the family farm. It’s the perfect spot to switch off, especially as I can take my slightly crazy Springer Spaniel Digby for long walks through the fields. We’re very lucky to have the River Till running through the farm, so river walks with views across the valley are hard to beat, particularly after a Sunday roast at my in-laws!

Can you tell us some of your favourite local businesses?

A new favourite of mine is The Book Loft in Berwick-upon-Tweed – a brilliant independent bookshop with an amazing range of genres. This time of year especially, I also have to mention Doddington Cheese. I always stock up for the year, and their cheese gift boxes make fantastic presents during the festive season.

What are you enjoying reading, watching, or listening to at the moment?

Anyone who knows me knows I’m a total bookworm. I’m currently reading The Thursday Murder Club series by Richard Osman, which I absolutely love – they’re such good fun. I’m just about to start the newest instalment, The Impossible Fortune, and there’s really nothing better at this time of year than curling up with a good book in front of the fire and switching off for a while.

If you were to describe your dream home what would it look like?

I love such a wide range of homes and styles, which is probably another reason I enjoy my job so much as I get to see them all and match each one with the perfect buyer. That said, we’ve just moved house, so I’m excited to put my own stamp on it and make it truly ours.

What are you move looking forward to as we head into the new year?

This year has been a very big one for me: I turned 30 in February, enjoyed an amazing trip to the USA visiting New York and Nashville, squeezed in Paris and Venice, got married at the end of September, and we’ve just moved house. As we head into the new year, I’m really looking forward to our first year of marriage, hopefully planning a honeymoon, and making our new house feel like home. Professionally, I’m excited for the market to pick up again in the spring and to be selling more fabulous homes across the Borders and North Northumberland.
