Borders Art Fair – 13th – 15th March

Held at the Borders Event Centre in Kelso, and with over 70 exhibition stands selling work directly from artists, collectives and galleries – making this the largest art event held in the region – visitors will also have the opportunity to meet the artists, learn more about their practice, and view their art in a relaxed environment. There’s also an Artist at Work area, along with afternoon workshops that are suitable for all ages and abilities. Full details here

Festival of Energy – 5th – 8th March

Produced by Walk the Plank as part of Blyth Celebrates 2026, the festival will turn the town into a hub of large-scale artworks, performances, and interactive experiences celebrating Blyth’s heritage and global leadership in renewable energy. Highlights include Luke Jerram’s Museum of the Moon and Gaia installations, shown together for the very first time; Walk the Plank’s Tower of Light, bringing the quayside to life with light, fire and special effects; and the life-sized Whale Song projection at the point where the River Blyth meets the sea. High Point of the Wall – 22nd March

This guided walk will cover a distance of around 7 miles in 4 hours, offering the chance to experience the superb views from the highest point on Hadrian’s Wall. Starting at the Sill, National Landscape Discovery Centre – a great place to start exploring Northumberland National Park, and located just a stone’s throw from Hadrian’s Wall – the walk will head west on Cranberry Brow to the Milecastle Inn, formerly known as the Commonhouse Inn. The return route passes the ‘Mare & Foal’, the remains of a prehistoric stone circle, before joining Hadrian’s Wall, walking east to its highest point. Full details here

Men’s Pie Club: Natural Ingredients with Northern Wilds – 30th March

An event led by Men’s Pie Club and supported by Northumberland Wildlife Trust, take part in a springtime forage and feast, starting at the Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre in Northumberland. The day consists of a walk and talk, where you’ll learn about the incredible wild food potential of the surrounding landscape and about how to identify and prepare wild plants – followed by a wild food meal using all the foraged finds. Berwick Film & Media Arts Festival – 20th – 22nd March

This year’s festival – the 21st annual festival – is being held at the Maltings’ temporary Cinema in the historic Berwick Barracks in Berwick-upon-Tweed. Relocating to a smaller venue after 20 years, this year’s festival will offer a more intimate experience. With the programme still to be announced, expect an ambitious and inspiring collection of new cinema. Festival passes are already on sale. Full details here
