Exploring the Highlands

Exploring the Highlands

We have a number of not to be missed places that we highly recommend, even if they are a bit of a drive but here are our top three!

Cairngorms

The Cairngorm National Park is perhaps a bit of a vague answer as it offers so much, but we just love spending time there. Walking, cycling, skiing or just enjoying time together as a family taking in the views and a picnic. There is so much to enjoy:

Isle of Skye

With its famous ‘fairy pools’ and the Cuillin mountain range this is a beautiful destination we suggest visiting out of peak season as its incredibly popular with tourists. Not only is it stunning but it offers great restaurants, distilleries, cafes and boat trips.

Applecross

This is one of our very favourite spots. There are only two roads that access Applecross and both have breathtaking views! We recommend driving the Bealach na Ba to Aplecross and potentially returning on the coastal road via Shieldaig- stunning!! It is a very steep road but the views are unforgettable. Once you arrive in Applecross there will be a warm welcome in the local pub, beaches, sea kayaking adventures, ice cream, views and sunsets! This is a spot we always try to take our visitors as it is truly spectacular.
